Job Title:          Maths and Science Teacher and Curriculum Lead

Location:          Overton School, Ludlow

Salary:              Up to £43,000 per annum dependent on experience

Hours:              40 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Contract:          Permanent, Term Time Only

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced Maths/Science Subject Lead to join our fantastic team at Overton School. As a Maths/Science Subject Lead, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupil’s achievement and ability to develop.

As the Maths/Science Subject Lead your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Job Purpose

  • To teach to a high standard and ensure all pupils access the knowledge relevant to the subject area

  • Liaise with other OFG schools to ensure development of the curriculum areas

  • Develop the scheme of learning for the curriculum areas and have an oversight of planning across the pathways

  • Monitor progress of pupils and put in place interventions where pupils are underachieving.

  • Maintain a development plan for the subject areas

  • Keep updated of changes within the curriculum areas and disseminate these to staff

  • Quality assure the teaching and learning of the subject areas

  • Support the development of staff and challenge the underperformance of staff

  • Attend middle leader training within school

  • Deliver training to develop staff on pedagogical developments

  • Liaise with the exams officer to ensure accurate entries are made for qualifications related to the subjects

  • To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum
